The Co-operative Bank launches £10,000 prize draw for Charity and Community customers

  • Charity and Community customers could win £10,000 as part of brand new prize draw
  • Prize draw launched to celebrate 10 years of awards for The Co-operative Bank’s Charity and Community Bank Account

The Co-operative Bank has today announced a new prize draw for its Charity and Community customers. New and existing customers with at least £5,000 held in an eligible account* before 31 July 2025 will automatically be entered into the prize draw where one lucky business could win £10,000.

Eligible for a Charity and Community Account, which offers free everyday banking, are registered charities, co-operatives, credit unions and community interest companies.

The prize draw, which was launched to celebrate 10 years of The Co-operative Bank being named ‘Best Charity Banking Provider’ by Business Moneyfacts, will also afford customers who have been with the Bank for at least 10 years with one additional entry into the draw.

The winning business will be announced shortly after 31 July 2025 when the draw is taken. More information regarding eligibility and further terms and conditions can be viewed here: The Co-operative Bank's Charity and Community Account

The multi-award winning Charity and Community Account, previously known as the Community DirectPlus Account, offers many benefits including no monthly service fee, discounted merchant services terminals, free Go Get Paid access and accountancy software integration and 50% off a subscription to sustainability platform Zellar.

For smaller organisations who are not eligible for an entry into the Prize Draw, the Account offers the opportunity to apply for up to £1,000 grants from the Customer Donation Fund, which has given back over £1.2 million to support over 1,300 community organisations since its inception.

James Wall, Head of Charity Banking at The Co-operative Bank, said:

“As the original ethical bank, we’re experts in supporting charities, co-operatives and organisations in the social enterprise sector to make a difference in their communities, and our 10 consecutive years of awards evidences that we’re the best at what we do. This is a fantastic time to make the switch to The Co-operative Bank, and be in with a chance of winning an incredible £10,000”.

Chas Sargeant, Chair of Coniston Co-operative Society, said: “We’re proud to bank with The Co-operative Bank – they really understand us as an organisation, and their award-winning bank account proves that”. Fiona Ebbs, Office Manager, added: “With the opportunity to win such a huge sum of money, there’s even more reason for socially and environmentally conscious organisations like us to bank with them”.

About The Co-operative Bank

The Co-operative Bank p.l.c. provides a full range of banking products and services to retail and SME (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises) customers and is committed to values and ethics in line with the principles of the co-operative movement.

In 1992, The Co-operative Bank took the pioneering step to become the first UK bank to launch a customer-led Ethical Policy, which gives the Bank’s customers a say on the ethical issues that are important to them, and how the Bank could help. These answers form the basis of our Ethical Policy, shaping the Bank’s ethical commitments, the way in which it will use customer’s money and the issues it will campaign for. Since 1992, the Ethical Policy remains unique in the UK and has been updated six times in consultation with the Bank’s customers, to reflect their changing priorities.
